A QR code is the easy part. DPP readiness starts with product identity, source-backed facts, document links, and change control.
Digital Product Passport readiness should not start with the passport interface. A QR code, landing page, and data carrier are the visible layer. The hard part is proving that the product facts behind the passport are complete, current, and traceable.
The EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation established Digital Product Passports as a mechanism for storing and sharing product information, including sustainability and circularity-related data. Public EU data guidance describes DPPs as improving transparency across value chains with information about origin, materials, environmental impact, and disposal recommendations.
