Attribute Library

Product attribute templates for industrial catalogs

A product attribute is useful only when your team knows which item it describes, what the value means and where it came from. This library is a starting point for category teams handling supplier PDFs, price lists and mixed feeds. Pick a category, compare the candidate fields with your own products, channels and markets, and download the template.

Electrical Distribution

Breakers, panelboards, disconnects, transformers, wire, conduit and wiring devices, where ratings, listings and mating equipment decide whether a part can be installed.

Lighting

Fixtures, lamps, emergency lighting and controls, where lumen output, CCT, driver compatibility and photometric files have to line up with the exact variant.

Plumbing & PVF

Valves, fittings, faucets, backflow preventers, hangers and water heaters, where connection standards, pressure ratings and lead-free status are the selection keys.

Pump, Valve & Process Equipment

Pumps, industrial valves, actuators, strainers and gauges, where materials of construction, pressure class and duty point determine suitability.

HVACR

Air handlers, condensing units, filters, duct, line sets and controls, where capacity, refrigerant and matched-system data drive compatibility.

Fastener Distribution

Bolts, nuts, screws, washers, anchors, rivets and threaded rod, where thread, grade, finish and pack quantity separate near-identical SKUs.

Power Transmission & Bearings

Bearings, chain, sprockets, belts, couplings and gearboxes, where designation codes, bore sizes and interchange data carry most of the meaning.

Industrial MRO

Hand and power tools, abrasives, lubricants, carts and shop supplies, where platform compatibility, grade and pack size decide the reorder.

Electronic Components

Capacitors, resistors, semiconductors, connectors, relays, sensors and terminal blocks, where package, tolerance and lifecycle status matter as much as the value.

Safety & PPE

Gloves, eyewear, footwear, head protection, respirators, harnesses and hi-vis apparel, where each protection claim must trace to a named standard and test result.

Medical & Dental Supply

Gloves, syringes, wound care, instruments, handpieces and diagnostic equipment, where regulatory identifiers, sterility and sizing must be exact.

Building Materials & Lumber

Lumber, panels, engineered wood, drywall, insulation, roofing and decking, where nominal versus actual dimensions and code approvals cause most errors.

Automotive Aftermarket

Batteries, filters, brakes, suspension, spark plugs, belts and bearings, where vehicle fitment and OE interchange are the core of the record.

Foodservice Equipment & Supply

Ovens, refrigeration, dishwashers, prep equipment, cookware and storage, where utility connections, capacity and sanitation listings drive selection.

Jan-San

Disinfectants, floor care, liners, paper, mops and vacuums, where dilution, registration numbers, dispenser fit and case pack define the product.

Pool, Spa & Irrigation

Pumps, filters, heaters, chemicals, valves and sprinkler heads, where flow, plumbing size and energy or chemical labeling rules shape the record.

How each template is organized

Every category page separates the fields into five groups. Each field has a proposed data type, the unit that must travel with the value, and a check the value should pass before anyone relies on it. Example values show formatting only; they are not facts about your inventory.

Identity

Which exact item, variant and pack this record describes.

Check: Preserve leading zeros and punctuation, validate against the manufacturer record, and check the GTIN check digit and packaging level before linking.

Technical specifications

Measured or rated values that must travel with their unit and test conditions.

Check: Store the number and unit separately. Convert only when the source unit and test conditions are known.

Selection attributes

The type, material and option choices buyers filter and compare on.

Check: Map supplier wording to a governed vocabulary only after checking the source text and which variant it applies to.

Fit & compatibility

What the item mounts to, mates with, replaces or works alongside.

Check: Keep model and series qualifiers. A similar-looking part is not a verified fit until a source says so.

Evidence & compliance

Listings, standards, classifications and origin claims that need a document behind them.

Check: Link the manufacturer document or label with its edition or date. Never copy a certification from a neighboring SKU.

From a supplier file to a record you can use

  1. Resolve the product first. Manufacturer, part number, variant and pack size must point to the right item.
  2. Read the source. Extract tables, labels and supporting documents without discarding raw values or page references.
  3. Normalize carefully. Convert units only when the source unit is known, and preserve qualifiers and test conditions.
  4. Review what matters. Hold conflicts, safety-related attributes and uncertain matches for a category expert.
  5. Sync and watch. Send approved values to ERP, PIM or channels, then recheck when the supplier sends a new file.

The method behind the templates is in how to build a category attribute template. To find which gaps matter most in your own catalog, run the category catalog gap audit.

What this library is not

These are editable reference templates, not official ETIM or ECLASS exports, not a certification and not a substitute for a manufacturer's current datasheet. Your industry, destination channels and markets may require more fields. An empty value is a request for evidence, not permission to invent one.

FAQ

What if a supplier does not publish a field?

Record it as missing. Ask the supplier for a datasheet or a verified label before using a safety- or fit-related value. A plausible value copied from a similar model is not evidence.

Are these official ETIM or ECLASS schemas?

No. They are practical candidate fields for catalog work. Map them to the licensed ETIM or ECLASS version and class your company uses before you export, and keep the supplier’s original terms alongside.

Can I use a GTIN instead of a manufacturer part number?

Both help. A GTIN identifies a trade item at a specific packaging level, while a manufacturer part number often resolves industrial parts when no GTIN exists. Check the identity and pack relationship rather than choosing one key for every case.

Does a complete product page mean the data is correct?

No. A public page can show a detailed value that is stale or belongs to a different variant. Validate important values against the current source document for the exact variant.

How should I use the CSV templates?

Each CSV lists the fields for one category with their group, priority, type, unit and an example format, followed by empty columns for the raw value, normalized value, source, confidence, review state and verification date. Fill one row per field per product, or use it to agree a field list with suppliers.
