High bay fixture product attributes
High bay fixture attributes to capture: delivered lumens, efficacy, beam distribution, ambient temperature rating and DLC listing for warehouse lighting.
High bay fixtures are bought for warehouses, factories and gyms where mounting height, ambient heat and rack layout drive the choice. Suppliers sell round and linear forms, fixed and switchable outputs, and a range of optics, but their data often leads with a wattage that no longer describes the product. Many current models let the installer select wattage and color temperature on site, so one catalog number can deliver several lumen levels.
The values that separate a good fit from a bad one are often in footnotes: the ambient temperature at which ratings apply, the lumen maintenance basis, the beam distribution for aisles versus open floor, and whether the lens is glass or polycarbonate for food or cold-storage areas. DLC qualification is tied to specific configurations and a version of the technical requirements, not to the family as a whole.
This template keeps configuration settings, measured performance, mounting and control options, and listing evidence in separate fields. That supports like-for-like replacement of legacy HID or fluorescent fixtures and quick rebate checks, with each value taken from the manufacturer's current specification sheet, photometric file or qualified-products listing.
The high bay fixtures attribute template
18 candidate fields in 5 groups, ordered the way a record gets built: identify the item, capture its specifications, then record fit and the evidence behind any claim. 8 are marked Core: without them the item cannot be identified or filtered. Example values show the expected format only; they do not describe a real SKU.
Identity
Which exact item, variant and pack this record describes.
Check before use: Preserve leading zeros and punctuation, validate against the manufacturer record, and check the GTIN check digit and packaging level before linking.

Technical specifications
Measured or rated values that must travel with their unit and test conditions.
Check before use: Store the number and unit separately. Convert only when the source unit and test conditions are known.

Selection attributes
The type, material and option choices buyers filter and compare on.
Check before use: Map supplier wording to a governed vocabulary only after checking the source text and which variant it applies to.

Fit & compatibility
What the item mounts to, mates with, replaces or works alongside.
Check before use: Keep model and series qualifiers. A similar-looking part is not a verified fit until a source says so.

Evidence & compliance
Listings, standards, classifications and origin claims that need a document behind them.
Check before use: Link the manufacturer document or label with its edition or date. Never copy a certification from a neighboring SKU.

Normalize supplier values
The same value arrives in many spellings. Map each raw string to one governed value, and keep the raw text beside it so a reviewer can see what the supplier actually wrote.

Often missing from supplier files
These fields are commonly absent from price lists and basic feeds, even though the information usually exists in a datasheet, label or installation manual. Treat an empty value as a request for evidence, not as permission to fill it from a similar model.
- Lumen maintenance basis (L-value @ hours @ ambient)
- DLC technical requirements version + QPL ID
- Selectable output table (W/CCT/lm per position)
- Lens material / glass-free construction
- Surge protection rating (kV / kA)
Questions the record must answer
Buyers and counter-sales reps choosing high bay fixtures ask questions like these. Each one needs a specific field, sourced for the exact variant.
- Which distribution works for narrow aisles between tall racks?
- Can this fixture handle the heat near the roof deck in summer?
- Is this exact wattage setting on the DLC list for our rebate?
- Will it hang from the hooks we already have, or does it need a pendant kit?
From supplier file to record
- Resolve identity first. Link the supplier SKU, manufacturer part number and packaging identifiers without merging distinct variants or pack sizes.
- Extract with the source attached. Pull values from rows, tables and datasheets, keeping the raw text, unit and page or row reference.
- Map to your classification. Assign the ETIM, ECLASS, UNSPSC or internal class your company licenses, and keep the supplier's original terms.
- Review, sync and watch. Hold conflicts and safety-related values for a category expert, write approved values to ERP or PIM, and recheck when the supplier sends a new file.

FAQ
What separates a high bay from a low bay fixture?
There is no single standard definition. Manufacturers generally position high bays for greater mounting heights and low bays for lower ceilings, with optics and output matched to that range, but the dividing line varies by supplier. A catalog should therefore not rely on the label alone. Store the recommended mounting height range, delivered lumens and beam distribution as structured fields, keep high bay or low bay as a controlled application value, and let buyers filter on the measured data.
Is a DLC listed flag enough?
Usually not. DLC qualification applies to specific configurations, is issued against a particular version of the technical requirements, and may be at the Standard or Premium tier. Utility programs can require a certain tier or version. Store the qualification status, tier, requirements version and product ID from the DLC qualified products list, plus the date the listing was checked. A plain yes or no flag cannot show whether the configuration being quoted is the one that was qualified.
How should selectable-wattage and selectable-CCT high bays be modeled?
Store the selectable positions as structured data on the one orderable record: each wattage setting with its delivered lumens and efficacy, the available CCTs, and the factory default. Headline values should state which setting they represent. If a DLC listing or other qualification applies only to certain settings, record that at the setting level. Separate records are needed only when the manufacturer assigns different catalog numbers to fixed-output versions.
Should product listings lead with lumens or with watts?
Lead with delivered lumens and show input watts beside them. Buyers replacing a metal halide or multi-lamp fluorescent fixture need a light-output comparison, and the wattage of an LED replacement varies widely with efficacy and optics. Store both as numbers from the same configuration, store the published efficacy or calculate it from those two values, and treat equivalent-wattage claims as descriptive text rather than a specification that search or substitution logic depends on.
