Concrete anchor product attributes
Concrete anchor attribute template: diameter, embedment depth, drill bit size, cracked-concrete qualification and evaluation report number for each SKU.
A concrete anchor record has to answer an engineering question, not just a sizing one. The same diameter and length can be installed at more than one embedment depth, and the load a designer can use depends on that depth, the base material, and whether the concrete is expected to crack. Supplier price lists rarely carry any of this. It sits in evaluation reports and installation tables that are published separately from the item file.
Several dimensions are easy to confuse. Anchor diameter is not always the drill bit size; drop-in anchors, for example, need a hole larger than the thread they accept. Overall length is not the embedment depth, and the maximum fixture thickness depends on both. Each of these belongs in its own field with an explicit unit, or buyers end up drilling the wrong hole.
Finish and material also carry real consequences. Zinc plating, mechanical galvanizing, hot-dip galvanizing and stainless steel are different corrosion choices, and they are not interchangeable in outdoor or treated-lumber applications. When the record also names the evaluation report and the qualification it covers, a contractor can confirm that the anchor on the order matches the one the engineer specified.
The concrete anchors attribute template
18 candidate fields in 5 groups, ordered the way a record gets built: identify the item, capture its specifications, then record fit and the evidence behind any claim. 13 are marked Core: without them the item cannot be identified or filtered. Example values show the expected format only; they do not describe a real SKU.
Identity
Which exact item, variant and pack this record describes.
Check before use: Preserve leading zeros and punctuation, validate against the manufacturer record, and check the GTIN check digit and packaging level before linking.

Check before use: Store the number and unit separately. Convert only when the source unit and test conditions are known.

Check before use: Map supplier wording to a governed vocabulary only after checking the source text and which variant it applies to.

What the item mounts to, mates with, replaces or works alongside.
Check before use: Keep model and series qualifiers. A similar-looking part is not a verified fit until a source says so.

Normalize supplier values
The same value arrives in many spellings. Map each raw string to one governed value, and keep the raw text beside it so a reviewer can see what the supplier actually wrote.

Often missing from supplier files
These fields are commonly absent from price lists and basic feeds, even though the information usually exists in a datasheet, label or installation manual. Treat an empty value as a request for evidence, not as permission to fill it from a similar model.

Questions the record must answer
Buyers and counter-sales reps choosing concrete anchors ask questions like these. Each one needs a specific field, sourced for the exact variant.
- What size bit do I drill for this anchor, and how deep?
- Is this anchor approved for cracked concrete and seismic applications?
- How thick a fixture can I bolt down with this length?
- Which evaluation report covers this exact anchor and finish?
From supplier file to record
- Resolve identity first. Link the supplier SKU, manufacturer part number and packaging identifiers without merging distinct variants or pack sizes.
- Extract with the source attached. Pull values from rows, tables and datasheets, keeping the raw text, unit and page or row reference.
- Map to your classification. Assign the ETIM, ECLASS, UNSPSC or internal class your company licenses, and keep the supplier's original terms.
- Review, sync and watch. Hold conflicts and safety-related values for a category expert, write approved values to ERP or PIM, and recheck when the supplier sends a new file.

FAQ
Is the drill bit size always the same as the anchor diameter?
No. For wedge and sleeve anchors the hole is usually the same nominal size as the anchor, but drop-in anchors are specified by the internal thread they accept and need a larger hole, and screw anchors often call for a slightly different bit. Store drill bit diameter as its own numeric field with a unit, taken from the manufacturer's installation instructions, instead of deriving it from anchor diameter. If a specific bit tolerance or setting tool is required, record that as well.
Why can one anchor part number list several embedment depths?
Many anchors are approved for installation at more than one embedment depth, and published load values change with depth. The part number stays the same because the physical product does not change. Model embedment as a structured table linked to the SKU, with each row holding depth, minimum base material thickness, edge and spacing distances where published. At minimum, record the nominal embedment used for the headline load values and link the source table. Always point users to the manufacturer's current data and the evaluation report for design values.
Can mechanically galvanized and hot-dip galvanized anchors be treated as one finish?
They should not be merged. Mechanical galvanizing and hot-dip galvanizing are different processes described by different ASTM specifications, and coating thickness and suitability vary by class. Some suppliers label both simply as galvanized. Keep finish as a controlled list that separates zinc plated, mechanically galvanized, hot-dip galvanized and stainless options, and store the coating specification and class in a separate field when the manufacturer states it. Where the source only says galvanized, flag the value for review rather than guessing.
Does the catalog record need the evaluation report number?
For anchors sold into engineered or code-inspected work, it is one of the most useful fields. Specifiers and inspectors look up design values and qualification scope in the evaluation report, and the report number is how they tie the product on site back to that document. Store the report issuer and number as an evidence field, along with the qualifications it covers such as cracked concrete or seismic use. Reports are revised and can expire, so keep a source link and check the current version rather than copying values once.
