Pressure gauge product attributes
Product data fields for pressure gauges: dial size, pressure range and units, connection size, thread and location, accuracy grade, and wetted materials.
Pressure gauges are easy to describe loosely and hard to match exactly. A supplier line such as "4 in 0-160 psi 1/4 NPT LM glycerine" packs five attributes into a string, and the abbreviations vary by supplier. Connection location is a common casualty: lower mount and center back mount gauges with identical dials are not interchangeable in a panel or on a pipe tee.
Standards add a layer of translation. North American gauges are typically specified to ASME B40.100 accuracy grades and dial sizes in inches, while European gauges follow EN 837-1 classes and nominal sizes in millimeters. The two systems are close but not identical, and connection threads differ in the same way: NPT, BSPP and BSPT fittings in the same nominal size do not seal against each other.
A buyer replacing a gauge needs the range and scale units, the connection size, thread and position, the dial size, and the wetted material for the process fluid. For demanding service they also need the case fill, the safety pattern, overpressure limits and any hazardous-area or regional registration, all taken from the manufacturer's current data sheet.
The pressure gauges attribute template
18 candidate fields in 5 groups, ordered the way a record gets built: identify the item, capture its specifications, then record fit and the evidence behind any claim. 10 are marked Core: without them the item cannot be identified or filtered. Example values show the expected format only; they do not describe a real SKU.
Identity
Which exact item, variant and pack this record describes.
Check before use: Preserve leading zeros and punctuation, validate against the manufacturer record, and check the GTIN check digit and packaging level before linking.

Technical specifications
Measured or rated values that must travel with their unit and test conditions.
Check before use: Store the number and unit separately. Convert only when the source unit and test conditions are known.

Check before use: Map supplier wording to a governed vocabulary only after checking the source text and which variant it applies to.

Fit & compatibility
What the item mounts to, mates with, replaces or works alongside.
Check before use: Keep model and series qualifiers. A similar-looking part is not a verified fit until a source says so.

Check before use: Link the manufacturer document or label with its edition or date. Never copy a certification from a neighboring SKU.

Normalize supplier values
The same value arrives in many spellings. Map each raw string to one governed value, and keep the raw text beside it so a reviewer can see what the supplier actually wrote.

Often missing from supplier files
These fields are commonly absent from price lists and basic feeds, even though the information usually exists in a datasheet, label or installation manual. Treat an empty value as a request for evidence, not as permission to fill it from a similar model.

- Canadian Registration Number (CRN)

Questions the record must answer
Buyers and counter-sales reps choosing pressure gauges ask questions like these. Each one needs a specific field, sourced for the exact variant.
- Is this gauge bottom connected or back connected, and what thread is it?
- Will the 316 wetted parts handle our process fluid?
- Does it read in both psi and bar?
- Is it registered for use in our province or approved for our hazardous area?
From supplier file to record
- Resolve identity first. Link the supplier SKU, manufacturer part number and packaging identifiers without merging distinct variants or pack sizes.
- Extract with the source attached. Pull values from rows, tables and datasheets, keeping the raw text, unit and page or row reference.
- Map to your classification. Assign the ETIM, ECLASS, UNSPSC or internal class your company licenses, and keep the supplier's original terms.
- Review, sync and watch. Hold conflicts and safety-related values for a category expert, write approved values to ERP or PIM, and recheck when the supplier sends a new file.

FAQ
Can a 4 in dial and an NS 100 dial be treated as the same size?
They are nominal equivalents and usually fit the same space, but they are not always dimensionally identical, so a panel cutout or mounting flange should be checked against the manufacturer's drawing. Store dial size as a controlled value that keeps both the inch and the millimeter designation, and keep case diameter and flange dimensions as separate numeric fields when the product is sold for panel mounting.
How do ASME accuracy grades relate to EN 837-1 accuracy classes?
They express accuracy differently. ASME B40.100 grades define permissible error as a percentage of span, and some grades allow a wider error at the ends of the scale than in the middle. EN 837-1 classes express error as a percentage of the scale range. Store the grade or class exactly as the manufacturer declares it, with the standard named, and avoid converting one into the other automatically.
Why should wetted materials be stored separately from the case material?
The case protects the mechanism from the environment, while the wetted parts, such as the Bourdon tube, socket and any seals, are the only parts the process fluid touches. A gauge with a stainless case may still have copper alloy wetted parts. Chemical compatibility depends on the wetted materials, so they need their own controlled field, normalized to recognized material designations.
How do full scale value and overpressure limit differ?
Full scale is the top of the dial range. The overpressure or pressure limitation values state how much steady, fluctuating or short-term pressure the gauge can withstand relative to full scale without losing accuracy or failing. Manufacturers state these differently, so store the range as numbers with units and the pressure limitation as a structured text field copied from the data sheet, with the source linked.
